Guanzgzhou is a major port and along with it being a transportation hub, it is one of Chinas 5 national central cities & is home to the largest African community in Asia.
Guangzhou became home to thousands of African traders, business men & women due to the economic boom that hit in the late 1900's and the growing wholesale trading markets.
At Guangzhou, you can find Africans from Nigeria, Mali, Congo and Senegal. They mostly reside in the central districts of Yuexiu and Baiyin which have been locally renamed 'Chocolate City' or 'Little Africa.'
African families and colleagues can usually be found at the Elephant Mall, other African shops and the popular Canaa clothing market.
Guangzhou has grown to become a global city with visitors and new residents from Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East and of course Africa. However, the African population has been on the decline in recent years due to the decrease in the demand for Chinese imports to Africa and the increase in immigration enforcements.
